Whilst seeing the sights of Barcelona by chance we walked past a Gallery called Iris Foto which caught Mark’s eye before mine.
The Gallery is located here, Carrer del Pi 10. The gallery has stunning images of people’s eye’s on the walls for us to see which caught our attention.
One image of an eye that is a large circular print on Acrylic glass hung on the wall that stood out to me. It wasn’t just because of the size of the eye but the colours were so vivid.
It’s amazing how much detail is in all the images but this big one caught my attention straight away.
I was asking myself how is it possible they can capture so much detail? With a special camera of course.
You are asked to sit on a chair in front of what is a similar piece of equipment used for your sight test. You rest your chin and your head forehead against the equipment (I have no idea what the name of the equipment is called) whilst you hold your lower lid down with your own finger and the upper lid is held up by the person taking your photo and then a few clicks of the camera and blinks in between the photos are taken and there you go, you’ll have a picture of your iris. It’s as easy as that and only takes a few minutes.
It’s incredible when you see your eye on the monitor in front of you once the pictures are taken. I was amazed. The detail that you see from the close up images is completely different to what you see day to day. I mean how often to do look at your eye up close and study every bit of detail? The detail you see in these pictures you can’t see in a mirror.
I have always loved art. This is art. It’s unique. It’s unique to me. It’ll be unique to you. I didn’t know this could be done, so I am thrilled we had the opportunity to do this.
Mark’s eye is incredible. The layers of detail in his eye is what amazes me. My eye is really blue in the photo.
Mark’s eye is incredibly detailed, more so than mine. It’s just beautiful. I much prefer his eye colour and detail than my own. He has gorgeous eyes but looking at these images it fascinates me every bit of detail. Now when I look him in the eyes I see a different picture now.
Once the picture of your eye has been registered for printing you can choose the material for your iris to be printed on and a number of image sizes too. Price ranges are dependant on size and type of material you choose but the staff will talk it all through with you.
The images are shipped by courier to your preferred address. Delivery can take up to 2 weeks to arrive but this worked out perfectly for us as we continued our holiday for another week. After our brief visit to Barcelona we headed onto Dubai.
Prior to the delivery of the frames that you have purchased your photo’s are emailed to you, this is great because you have an electronic copy to admire beforehand.
On the day our pictures arrived by courier I was so excited. I filmed the opening as it was an occasion we were looking forward to.
They are beautiful. We haven’t put them up on the wall yet but when we do I am sure it will change the way our living space looks.
The staff are lovely and answered all our questions and made our experience really enjoyable. Sebastien, a really nice guy took the photos of our eyes and clearly takes pride in his work and did a fantastic job. Many Thanks Sebastien and team!
There are a few of these galleries across Europe. Click on the web link below to see where you can find the nearest Iris Foto Gallery.
