Beat those January Blues

Relaxing Bathtime

January is often referred to as the most depressing month of the year. With Christmas over, A few pounds gained on the waist and few pounds lost from the pockets, ages until next pay day and to add the weather is miserable, I can appreciate why people use the term “January Blues”.

Monday 20th January 2020 is called “Blue Monday”, sadly. Typically this depressing day falls on the 3rd week in January every year.

I am feeling ok though but I am however looking forward to the next few months. Fear not dear readers let me enlighten you with some of the things I have been doing in January to beat those blues and have a bit of R&R.

Why not try a long soak in the bath? I have always been a big fan of the bathtub. I tend to go in the shower everyday purely because I have no time to chill in the bathtub.

I’ve made an effort to use the bath recently especially on a weekend. Not so long ago, I was sent a gift from the team at Soil Organics. The essential oils have helped me relax and de-stress. I light the candle to go in the ceramic burner and I put a few drops on of essential oil mixed with a little bit of water on the top, the aromas fill the air surrounding me. To add to my bath water Mark purchased a few bath bombs for me at Christmas. I am still going through them but they smell so delicious. I like watching bath bombs dissolve so I take a few minutes watching the variety of colours appear from each layer of the bath bomb.

I also think that watching a movie can make you feel better, it will at least take your mind off things for a short while. A pick me up movie I’d recommend for sure. I have watched 2 so far this month that I love. ‘Coco before Chanel’ is one of my favourites. The story captivates me. Definitely would recommend watching it if you love fashion too. The other movie is ‘My Fair Lady’ although we only recorded half of it, shame. I just love old movies.

What makes me a slightly glum is the fact I never watched two of the traditional Christmas films on TV this last year. They are ‘The Great Escape’ and ‘The Sound of Music’. Another 2 of my must see movies. I’ll get round to watch them soon.

Here’s another…Snuggle up with your Pet, Partner, family, friends, snuggle up. I always make a point of snuggling up to Mark on the sofa. I often place his hand on my head and that’s a signal for him to play with my hair. The TLC I need to get me through January….well not just January every night of every day of every month, where we can anyway. It’s so relaxing having your hair played with.

Keep Busy- Working, Planning, preparing, organising, and cleaning is how I have kept myself busy this month. I am looking forward to clearing the piles of paperwork this month, it has built up somewhat.

Take a stroll. We do even if it’s for an hour. We like to walk along the seafront where we live and enjoy the fresh air. An ice cream on a cold day isn’t so bad either. In fact I find it warms me up but for now it’s time for us both to chill.
