After a hectic December we have spent January in the slow lane. January has been a month where we have focused on food. In fact, it’s been all about the food. We made a pit stop to Palma and also travelled to Brighton one weekend so that was lovely.
Our trip to Palma was over in a flash. It was nice to enjoy a little bit of sun. By the evening though, we could have been in the UK as it was freezing cold. I don’t mind if I am being honest, I would rather be chilly and wrap up warm than boiling hot and having to strip off!
The Hospes Maricel hotel is our preferred choice of hotel when in staying in Mallorca. They are super friendly and look after us extremely well.
In Palma, I ate the most delicious chocolate dessert that weekend. It was very much like the dessert I had in a restaurant called Bob Bob Ricard in London. The chocolate ball is covered with warm chocolate and it’s the most sickly dessert, but I can do those because they taste so delicious.
Our trip to Brighton this month was very brief too, we stayed in a hotel at the marina which is a twenty minute walk to the Palace Pier. The pier was definitely my childhood place of choice. Much like Southend Sea Front I’ll spend an hour or two a month playing on the 2p machines.
I am 34 years old. Too old for 2p machines? No, I no longer do this to win those eye-catching keyrings, ornaments and rubber ducks for myself….Mark’s youngest son now has a collection of these in his school bag.
We’ll head to the 2p machine that I think has the best keyring they have to offer and will do everything I can to win it. I call them his lucky charms for football. I am hopeful I’ll fill his school bag! I’m not sure he likes them that much. It’s now a game for me now to just continue getting them…Lots of Lolssssss.
We did eat in a new restaurant on the Marina and unfortunately it wasn’t great. Mark and I tried to make the most of it the best we could, we sat in the bar after the meal listening to the DJ’s choice of music. The most odd part was the DJ was on downstairs beneath the restaurant. The Marina is considered a very quiet place. Mostly people that live there are retired or just like the peacefulness of the place.
Mark and I have been working on a project in January all about food. It won’t be long before we reveal all. It’s been a challenge. Mark has been brushing up on his cooking skills though so that’s a plus. One evening there chaos in the kitchen, it appeared that there were too many cooks….(me & him) I accidentally dropped the vital ingredient on the floor and thus our dinner perhaps didn’t turn out how it should have. Lots more Lolllssssss.
Thankfully January is over and it’s been a very long month. I am so looking forward to the next coming months just to get back to a bit of normality.
Cheerio for now.
With Love Mel x
